Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router SNMP agent event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-SNMP-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-SNMP-MIB is a Teldat enterprise MIB module defining SNMP notifications emitted by the router's own SNMP agent event subsystem. It carries no configuration or performance tables; its objects are all trap variable bindings describing the source/destination SNMP addresses, protocol version, community string, application type, error code, and username involved in an SNMP transaction event. This makes it valuable for monitoring the health and security posture of the management plane itself, such as detecting authentication failures, unexpected SNMP versions, or unauthorized access attempts against the device's agent. It relies on the standard SNMPv2 notification framework and complements the base SNMPv2-MIB by adding Teldat-specific event detail. It is typically deployed in security-conscious network operations centers that want visibility into who is polling or configuring their Teldat routers via SNMP. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TELDAT-TRAP-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router (SNMP agent subsystem)

Monitoring Examples

Traps such as snmp3 (carrying snmp3_source_snmp_address and snmp3_error_code) or snmp5 (carrying snmp5_community and snmp5_source_snmp_address) let an operator see exactly which management station triggered an SNMP error or used a particular community string. An snmp8 trap exposing snmp8_userName alongside snmp8_source_snmp_address would reveal SNMPv3 user-based access attempts, useful for auditing which credentials are being used against the agent. Because this is a pure notification MIB, there is no ongoing counter table to poll; monitoring is limited to these discrete event traps.

What Can Be Monitored

  • source/destination SNMP address of an event
  • SNMP error code
  • SNMP protocol version used
  • community string used
  • SNMPv3 username used
