Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router SPF (shortest path first) routing event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-SPF-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-SPF-MIB is a vendor-specific, trap-only MIB from Teldat that defines SNMP notifications generated by a router's OSPF SPF (Shortest Path First) event subsystem. It exposes only fault/event data — there are no polled configuration or performance tables, just a family of numbered notification variants (spf1 through spf6) carrying the source IP and OSPF packet type associated with each SPF recalculation event. It is used strictly for monitoring routing software behavior: detecting when the OSPF process recalculates shortest paths, from which peer/source the triggering packet arrived, and what kind of OSPF packet caused it, which together flag route flapping or topology instability. It complements the standard OSPF-MIB and Teldat's proprietary enterprise trap framework rather than replacing them. It is deployed on Teldat routers in WAN/branch networks, with an NMS or trap receiver configured for TELDAT-TRAP-SPF-MIB SNMP monitoring to catch and correlate these OSPF event traps.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-SPF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat routers
  • Teldat WAN/branch access routers

Monitoring Examples

Each spf1-IP-source/spf1-OSPF-packet-type pair (and the analogous spf2 through spf6 variants) identifies the source address and packet type that triggered a given SPF event, all rolled up under spfNotifications. A network operations team would configure a trap receiver against spfNotifications and watch for a burst of events with varying spf*-IP-source values, which would indicate an unstable OSPF neighbor relationship or route flapping. Since this MIB is trap-only, there is nothing to periodically poll — monitoring is purely event-driven, triggered whenever the SPF subsystem fires.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OSPF SPF recalculation events
  • source IP of triggering OSPF packet
  • OSPF packet type
  • routing topology instability alerts
