What Is TELDAT-TRAP-GPSF-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-GPSF-MIB is a private enterprise MIB from Teldat defining SNMP trap notifications generated by the GPSF (GPS-based forwarding) event subsystem on Teldat routers. It is a notification-only module exposing GPS positional data fields -- hour/minute/second timestamp components, latitude and longitude in degrees/minutes/fractional-minutes with hemisphere area indicators, and altitude -- carried inside GPS-related event traps. Its use in monitoring is specialized: rather than general hardware/software health, it reports location and timing events tied to GPS-based forwarding decisions on the router, useful for confirming the router's GPS receiver is providing valid fix data and for auditing where/when GPSF-triggered forwarding events occurred. It depends on the underlying GPS/NMEA-style coordinate conventions rather than a standard IETF MIB. It is deployed on Teldat routers used in mobile, vehicular, or location-aware routing applications where GPS position influences traffic forwarding. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-GPSF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-GPSF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat routers with GPS-based forwarding (GPSF)

Monitoring Examples

When a GPSF event fires, an admin can inspect gpsf1-h/gpsf1-m/gpsf1-s for the event's UTC timestamp components and gpsf1-la-deg/gpsf1-la-min/gpsf1-la-minfrac with gpsf1-la-area for the precise latitude and hemisphere at the time of the event. The corresponding longitude fields (gpsf1-lo-deg, gpsf1-lo-min, gpsf1-lo-minfrac, gpsf1-lo-area) and gpsf1-altint together pinpoint the router's 3D position when the GPS-based forwarding decision was triggered. Repeated traps with implausible or stalled coordinates would indicate a GPS receiver fault rather than a genuine forwarding event.

What Can Be Monitored

  • GPS event timestamp (hour/minute/second)
  • latitude (degrees/minutes/hemisphere)
  • longitude (degrees/minutes/hemisphere)
  • altitude at event time
