Description: Defines Teldat router UDP event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-UDP-MIB?

This Teldat-proprietary MIB defines SNMP trap notifications for anomalous UDP-layer events observed by Teldat routers, such as checksum mismatches and other transport-level conditions. It exposes event data including source and destination IP addresses, port numbers, packet length, the incoming interface, and both calculated and received checksum values for a flagged datagram. It functions as a software-level network-health monitor rather than a hardware monitor, letting administrators catch corrupted or malformed UDP traffic, unexpected port activity, or datagram length anomalies as they occur. It has no formal dependency beyond the standard UDP protocol (RFC 768), whose fields it mirrors in trap form. It is deployed on Teldat routers wherever detailed transport-layer diagnostics are needed, such as troubleshooting flaky WAN links or detecting malformed traffic from misbehaving hosts. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-UDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-UDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would correlate udp1-source-ip-address, udp1-destination-ip-address, and udp1-port-number to identify which flow triggered a UDP event, while udp4-calculated-checksum versus udp4-received-checksum exposes a checksum mismatch indicating packet corruption in transit. udp3-source-ip-address and udp3-length would be checked together to catch datagrams with abnormal lengths, and udp5-incoming-interface pinpoints which router interface received the offending traffic. These traps are especially useful for isolating intermittent WAN-link corruption that standard interface counters wouldn't distinguish from packet loss.

What Can Be Monitored

  • UDP source/destination IP and port
  • datagram length anomalies
  • checksum mismatches
  • incoming interface for flagged traffic
