Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications
Description: Defines Teldat router NTP synchronization event trap notifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TELDAT-TRAP-NTP-MIB?
TELDAT-TRAP-NTP-MIB is a Teldat enterprise MIB defining SNMP trap notifications generated by the NTP (Network Time Protocol) subsystem on Teldat routers. It exposes trap varbinds capturing NTP source/destination addresses and the four NTP timestamps (reference, originate, receive, transmit) exchanged during time synchronization, plus an error-code field for failed synchronization attempts. This is a fault/event-oriented software-status MIB: it lets an administrator detect when a router's clock synchronization with an NTP source has failed or produced an error, which is important because time drift can affect logging correlation, certificate validation, and scheduled operations. It shares the same TELDAT-TRAP-* notification framework used by companion MIBs like TELDAT-TRAP-HTTP-MIB and TELDAT-TRAP-TNIP-MIB. It is deployed on Teldat routers in networks where accurate device clock synchronization is operationally important, and administrators can initiate a TELDAT-TRAP-NTP-MIB download directly from Teldat to load the trap definitions into their monitoring system.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-NTP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat router
Monitoring Examples
When an NTP synchronization trap fires, an NMS reads ntp1-ntpsourceadd to identify which NTP server was involved and compares ntp1-orgTime, ntp1-recvTime, and ntp1-txTime to estimate round-trip delay and offset. If ntp3-errorcode is non-zero, the operator knows synchronization with the source in ntp3-ntpsourceadd failed outright, prompting a check of NTP server reachability or configuration.
What Can Be Monitored
- NTP source/destination address
- NTP timestamp exchange (reference/originate/receive/transmit)
- NTP synchronization error code

RFC description
Teldat router MIB that defines trap notifications related to Network Time Protocol (NTP) functionality, enabling monitoring of time synchronization status and failures.
Start monitoring Teldat router (NTP sync-failure/error event traps) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
