Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications
Description: Defines Teldat router GW (gateway) event trap notifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB?
TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Teldat defining SNMP trap notifications from the router's GW (gateway) event subsystem, covering router identity, software release, interface, and internal queue/buffer resource events. It is a notifications-only module exposing trap variable bindings such as router name, release level, queue type, queue lengths, and buffer pool statistics rather than polled runtime tables. Its monitoring purpose is software/system health event visibility: it alerts a management station when internal gateway resources such as queues or buffer pools approach exhaustion (advisable vs. actual queue length, high-water marks on buffer pools), which is a strong early-warning signal of device overload or memory pressure. It depends on the internal gateway/queueing subsystem of Teldat router software rather than on other standard MIBs. It is typically deployed across Teldat router fleets to catch internal resource-exhaustion events before they cause packet loss or instability. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-GW-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
A monitoring system would receive a trap carrying gw1-router-name or gw2-router-name plus gw2-release-level to identify the reporting device and its software version, and a trap with gw4-queue-type, gw4-advisable-queue-length, and gw4-actual-queue-length to detect a queue that has grown beyond its recommended depth, a leading indicator of congestion. A trap containing gw5-total-created, gw5-initially-free, gw5-fair-share-amount, and gw5-high-water-mark would reveal buffer pool exhaustion pressure, useful for spotting a device nearing a memory-related failure.

| NTF gwNotification57 | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2007.1.4.1.2.0.57 | Notification of Event GW.57 Message: 'Output overflow when transmitting on interface $1' Parameters list: $1: gw57-interface When the router went to send a packet, the interface output queue was too full, and the packet had to be discarded. The output overflow counter for that interface was incremented, and the packet was returned to the protocol forwarder for attention. | ||
| NTF gwNotification58 | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2007.1.4.1.2.0.58 | Notification of Event GW.58 Message: 'Output error transmitting to host $1 interface $2' Parameters list: $1: gw58-next-hop-host $2: gw58-interface A packet has not been sucessfully retransmitted. The output error counter for that interface is incremented, and the packet is discarded. Usually, next-hop-host will be the MAC layer address of the next hop router or host that this packet is being sent to. The format of this MAC address depends on the network type. If next-hop-host starts with an @ (at-sign), then that network does not provide formatted display of MAC addresses, and the following number is the hex address in router memory that the next hop host address is stored at. | ||

RFC description
Manages SNMP notification events and traps from gateway event subsystems on Teldat routers.
Start monitoring Teldat enterprise/carrier routers (gateway queue/buffer-pool resource event traps) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
