What Is TELDAT-TRAP-FRBK-MIB?
TELDAT-TRAP-FRBK-MIB is a Teldat enterprise MIB dedicated to Frame Relay Backup (FRBK) event notifications on Teldat routers, a feature that switches WAN traffic to a backup path (including ISDN) when a primary Frame Relay circuit fails. It exposes trap/notification objects identifying which backup circuit or interface (frbk1 through frbk7, including ISDN-specific variants) triggered an event, rather than polled counters or gauges. Its monitoring value is entirely fault/event-oriented: administrators use these traps to be notified in real time when a Frame Relay circuit fails over to a backup interface or ISDN line, which circuit and interface name were involved, letting them track WAN link reliability and backup activation frequency. It is closely tied to standard Frame Relay and ISDN interface concepts (referencing ifIndex-style interface names) though the trap objects themselves are Teldat-proprietary. It is typically deployed on Teldat routers used in branch/WAN environments where Frame Relay primary links have ISDN or secondary circuit backup configured. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-FRBK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-FRBK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat routers
- Teldat WAN routers with Frame Relay/ISDN backup
Monitoring Examples
An operator's trap receiver would capture frbkNotifications carrying variables like frbk1-circuit and frbk1-ifc-name (or the frbk2 through frbk7 equivalents) to identify exactly which frame relay circuit failed over to backup and on which interface, including ISDN interfaces identified by frbk5-isdn-ifc-name or frbk6-isdn-ifc-name. Frequent backup-activation traps for the same circuit would indicate a chronically unstable primary Frame Relay link needing carrier escalation.
What Can Be Monitored
- Frame Relay backup activation events
- backup circuit identification
- backup interface name
- ISDN backup interface identification
