Category: Data Center Infrastructure Monitoring, Environmental and Power Monitoring, Intelligent PDU Management

Description: Manages Server Technology Sentry4 intelligent PDU outlet control, power metering, and branch monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Sentry4-MIB?

Sentry4-MIB is the vendor-specific Server Technology MIB module for the fourth-generation Sentry product family, covering the PRO1 and PRO2 series of Smart and Switched Cabinet/Power Distribution Units (CDU/PDU), registered under the serverTech enterprise branch (enterprises.1718.4). It models a multi-level power hierarchy — st4UnitConfigTable/st4UnitMonitorTable for each PDU unit (masterPdu, linkPdu, controller, or emcu type, with st4UnitStatus), st4InputCordConfigTable/MonitorTable for each AC input cord (st4InputCordActivePower, ApparentPower, PowerFactor, Energy, Frequency, OutOfBalance), st4LineConfigTable/MonitorTable for individual current-carrying lines (st4LineCurrent, LineCurrentUtilized), and st4PhaseConfigTable/MonitorTable for per-phase voltage, current, crest factor and power factor. Every measured quantity carries a companion DeviceStatus object whose enumeration (normal, breakerTripped, fuseBlown, lowAlarm/highAlarm, noComm, etc.) gives an immediate health verdict alongside the raw reading, which is what makes this MIB useful for rack-PDU power monitoring rather than just metering. It is deployed on Server Technology Sentry4 PRO1/PRO2 PDUs in data center cabinets, and administrators managing these units typically load Sentry4-MIB into an SNMP MIB Browser to poll outlet, line, and phase power data.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Sentry4-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Server Technology Sentry4 PRO1/PRO2 series Smart/Switched CDU and PDU

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls st4PhaseCurrent and st4PhaseCurrentStatus for each phase in st4PhaseMonitorTable on a 3-phase Sentry4 PDU; a st4PhaseCurrentStatus value of highAlarm alongside a current reading approaching the line's current capacity would indicate the phase is overloaded and at risk of tripping a breaker.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-unit status (masterPdu/linkPdu/controller/emcu)
  • input cord power, power factor, and energy
  • line current and current utilization
  • phase voltage, current, and power factor
  • DeviceStatus health enumerations (alarm/warning/breaker/fuse states)
