Description: Manages Spring Tide Networks extended interface attributes and supplemental configuration objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is STN-EXTIF-MIB?

STN-EXTIF-MIB is a Spring Tide Networks vendor-specific MIB that supplements the standard IF-MIB by providing named-interface lookup tables for Spring Tide's routing platform. It defines stnExtIfL2Table mapping a Layer 2 interface name (stnExtIfL2IfName) to its IF-MIB ifIndex, and three related Layer 3 tables — stnExtIfL3Table (keyed by interface name), stnExtIpAddrL3Table (keyed by IP address), and stnExtSubnetL3Table (keyed by subnet interface instance) — that all expose the same cross-referenced set of interface name, ifIndex, subnet interface instance, IP address, and subnet mask for a given L3 subinterface. Because the underlying platform can have many logical subinterfaces per physical port, these tables are useful for translating between the human-readable interface name used in CLI configuration and the numeric ifIndex/IP address that SNMP polling tools actually key on. It depends entirely on entries already existing in the standard IF-MIB ifTable, and it is deployed on Spring Tide Networks routing/switching platforms alongside the broader SPRING-TIDE-NETWORKS-SMI MIB tree, making the STN-EXTIF-MIB MIB the reference for resolving interface names to indices on those devices.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in STN-EXTIF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Spring Tide Networks routing/switching platforms

Monitoring Examples

An operator looks up a subinterface's configured name in stnExtIfL3Table to retrieve its stnExtIfL3IfIndex and stnExtIfL3IpAddress before polling standard interface counters in IF-MIB; a name present in the CLI but missing from stnExtIfL3Table would indicate the corresponding SNMP-visible interface row was never created.

What Can Be Monitored

  • L2 interface name-to-ifIndex mapping
  • L3 interface name, ifIndex, and IP address/mask mapping
  • IP-address-keyed L3 interface lookup
  • subnet-interface-instance-keyed L3 lookup
