Description: Defines the enterprise OID registration hierarchy for Spring Tide Networks broadband aggregation equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SPRING-TIDE-NETWORKS-SMI?
SPRING-TIDE-NETWORKS-SMI is the enterprise Structure of Management Information MIB for Spring Tide Networks, a vendor of broadband aggregation equipment (later acquired by Lucent), and it establishes the private enterprise OID registration hierarchy under which all other Spring Tide-specific MIBs (such as STN-ATM-MIB, STN-IF-MIB, and STN-POLICY-MIB) are defined. It exposes no device data itself; rather it defines the root object identifiers and naming conventions used to organize Spring Tide's proprietary MIB modules. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status, but it is a required structural dependency for every other Spring Tide vendor MIB, similar to how SNMPv2-SMI underlies all standards-based MIBs. Every STN-prefixed MIB in this vendor's family imports its object identifier assignments from this module. It is present on any Spring Tide broadband aggregation platform as the foundational OID anchor for that platform's full set of manageable objects, and the SPRING-TIDE-NETWORKS-SMI MIB itself never appears in a polling script, showing up only in the import statements of STN-prefixed modules.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SPRING-TIDE-NETWORKS-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Spring Tide Networks broadband aggregation equipment
Monitoring Examples
No object names were captured for this MIB since it is purely structural, but a MIB compiler would resolve OID assignments such as the springTide or stn enterprise root defined here when parsing dependent modules like STN-IF-MIB or STN-ATM-MIB. Its correctness is validated implicitly whenever those dependent MIBs compile and their objects resolve to valid, non-conflicting OIDs under the Spring Tide enterprise branch. There is no live polling scenario associated with this MIB directly.
What Can Be Monitored
- Spring Tide enterprise OID root structure
- namespace organization for dependent STN-prefixed MIBs
