Description: Manages SNMP 553S-series network device configuration, status monitoring, and operational control.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SNMP553S-MGMT-MIB?
SNMP553S-MGMT-MIB is a General DataComm (GDC 553S DSU/CSU) proprietary MIB reporting unit configuration, cascade/modem presence, and diagnostics for the GDC 553S DSU/CSU shelf system. Its objects cover MIB version, a maintenance table (index), cascade-present/external-modem-present flags, unit type, management source, product type, LED status, unit serial number, a save-all-config action, a unit-config table (index), save-CSU-config action, shelf-commander flag, force-fake-master flag, daisy-chain bit rate, a channel-config table (index, DCC-compatibility mode), save-DSU-config action, and a diagnostics table. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm which unit in a cascaded 553S shelf is acting as shelf commander and save unit configuration after changes. It is deployed on General DataComm 553S DSU/CSU shelf systems. Engineers can download the SNMP553S-MGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SNMP553S-MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- General DataComm 553S DSU/CSU shelf systems
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks snmp553sShelfCommander and snmp553sCascadePresent to confirm which unit is controlling a cascaded General DataComm 553S DSU/CSU shelf.
What Can Be Monitored
- unit configuration, cascade status, and shelf-commander role
