Category: Server and Host Management, Siemens Nixdorf Server Management

Description: Specifies trap notifications issued by Siemens Nixdorf servers for hardware faults, threshold crossings, and operational events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SNI-TRAP-MIB?

SNI-TRAP-MIB is Siemens Nixdorf's proprietary MIB defining SNMP trap notifications for its server hardware, covering hardware faults, threshold crossings, and general operational events. Rather than exposing pollable runtime counters, its content is primarily trap/notification definitions that fire asynchronously when a monitored condition changes. It is explicitly hardware-fault oriented: traps of this kind are the mechanism by which a server communicates conditions like component failure, environmental threshold breaches, or state transitions to a management station without waiting to be polled. It builds on the standard SNMPv1/v2 trap-PDU delivery mechanism as its transport, adding Siemens Nixdorf-specific trap OIDs and varbinds on top. It was deployed in Siemens Nixdorf (later Fujitsu Siemens) server environments where a management station subscribes to these traps for fault alerting. Engineers can download the SNI-TRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SNI-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Siemens Nixdorf (SNI) server

Monitoring Examples

The only object listed in the source for this module is the IMPORTS clause itself, not a real monitorable object, so no concrete polling scenario with genuine object names can be given honestly; in practice, a management station would instead configure trap-destination handling to receive SNI hardware-fault and threshold-crossing notifications as they occur rather than polling scalar values.

What Can Be Monitored

  • hardware fault trap events
  • threshold-crossing alerts
  • operational state change events
