Category: Server and Host Management, Siemens Nixdorf Server Management

Description: Manages Siemens Nixdorf ServerView integrated server management including health, inventory, and alerting.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SNI-SERVERVIEW-MIB?

SNI-SERVERVIEW-MIB is the enterprise MIB behind ServerView, Siemens Nixdorf/Fujitsu Siemens Computers' (FSC) integrated server-management suite, providing SNMP access to the health, inventory, and alerting data ServerView collects from its managed servers. It exposes server identification (IP address, object name/ID), alarm/trap detail objects, and alarm-severity and alarm-service-command fields used to drive the ServerView alerting pipeline. It is a hardware/software health MIB by design: ServerView's purpose is aggregating a server's environmental and component health, such as temperature, power, and fans, into a unified alarm model, and this MIB's severity and trap-detail objects let an NMS distinguish an informational event from a critical hardware fault reported by the underlying server. It depends on ServerView's own internal hardware-health agents, which typically also expose vendor component MIBs for temperature/voltage/fan sensors, and re-surfaces their alerts through this unified trap/severity model. It was deployed on Fujitsu Siemens PRIMERGY (and predecessor SNI) rack/tower servers where ServerView was the standard systems-management agent, with SNI-SERVERVIEW-MIB SNMP monitoring integrating hardware alarms into enterprise NMS platforms via trap forwarding.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SNI-SERVERVIEW-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMERGY server (ServerView agent)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would correlate sieServerViewTrapSeverity with sniServerViewOrigTrapDetails to triage an incoming ServerView alarm, checking fscSvServerIPAddress and fscSvObjectName to identify which physical server and component raised it. A trap with critical severity tied to a hardware object would indicate something like a fan or power-supply failure needing immediate attention.

What Can Be Monitored

  • alarm/trap severity
  • originating trap detail
  • server IP address/identification
  • alarm service command status
