Category: Legacy and Compatibility MIBs, SNA and Legacy WAN Protocols

Description: Manages SMDS (Switched Multimegabit Data Service) subscription parameters and service configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SMDS-Subscription-MIB?

SMDS-Subscription-MIB is a legacy proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 148) reporting SMDS (Switched Multi-megabit Data Service) Subscriber-Network Interface (SNI) parameters per SIP port. Its subscriber table, keyed by index, records contact, SNI location, access class, MCDU (Maximum Committed Data Unit?) in/out (and change counts), unassigned SAs (Subscriber Addresses), access-class-exceeded/SA-screen/DA-screen violation counts, MCDU-exceeded-at-ingress/egress counts, and address codes, alongside a subscriber-addresses table and address-screening master table. As a status/configuration MIB it lets an administrator watch address-screening violations and MCDU policy enforcement per SMDS subscriber port on this legacy SMDS access device. It is deployed on legacy SMDS (Switched Multi-megabit Data Service) access equipment. Engineers can download the SMDS-Subscription-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SMDS-Subscription-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Legacy SMDS (Switched Multi-megabit Data Service) access equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks smdsSAScreenViolations and smdsMCDUsExceededAtIngressCounts to watch address-screening and MCDU-policy violations on a legacy SMDS access device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SMDS address-screening violations and MCDU policy enforcement
