Description: MIB for port LED state management on SmartOptics SiteLight network elements, tracking LED color, blink mode, alarm masks, and port labels

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SL-PORT-MIB?

SL-PORT-MIB is a vendor MIB from SmartOptics for its SiteLight optical/network element product line, focused specifically on managing the front-panel port LED indicators. It exposes a port configuration table controlling and reporting LED color, blink mode, alarm masking behavior, and human-readable port labels for each physical port. Its monitoring value is centered on device status signaling and fault indication: administrators can determine what visual alarm state a port is presenting (e.g., color/blink pattern tied to an alarm condition) and when that state last changed, which is a proxy for port-level fault or link status rather than deep performance counters. It appears to be a self-contained enterprise MIB with no evident dependency on other standard MIBs, layering purely cosmetic/alarm-signaling management on top of whatever underlying port/interface MIBs the SiteLight platform also supports. It is typically deployed on SmartOptics SiteLight optical network elements in metro/access optical transport networks where NOC staff correlate physical LED states with remote SNMP polling. Engineers can download the SL-PORT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SL-PORT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SmartOptics SiteLight optical network element

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll slPortConfigTable/slPortConfigEntry indexed by slPortConfigIndex to read slPortConfigLedColor and slPortConfigLedMode for each port, detecting an unexpected red or blinking LED state that signals an alarm condition on that port. slPortConfigAlarmMask shows which alarm sources are currently suppressed for a port, useful for confirming a masked alarm isn't being silently ignored during maintenance. slPortConfigLastChange gives a timestamp of the most recent LED/alarm state transition, and slPortConfigLabel ties the numeric index back to a human-meaningful port name for reporting.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port LED color
  • port LED blink mode
  • port alarm mask state
  • port label
  • time of last LED/alarm change
