Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RUCKUS-HWINFO-MIB?
The RUCKUS-HWINFO-MIB is a vendor module from Ruckus Wireless (now part of CommScope) that reports hardware inventory and identification information for Ruckus wireless access points and controllers. It exposes objects such as model number, serial number, customer ID, and hardware major/minor revision, essentially serving as an electronic asset tag readable via SNMP. Its monitoring value is primarily hardware-identity and inventory verification rather than live performance metrics — it lets administrators confirm exactly which hardware model/revision and serial number is deployed at a given site, useful for asset tracking, warranty/RMA lookups, and firmware-compatibility checks. It also defines a hardware-related events/notifications branch, suggesting it can alert on hardware-related conditions in addition to reporting static inventory data. It is deployed across Ruckus Wireless access points and wireless LAN controllers in enterprise and carrier Wi-Fi deployments. Engineers can download the RUCKUS-HWINFO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUCKUS-HWINFO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ruckus Wireless access points
- Ruckus wireless LAN controllers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll ruckusHwInfoModelNumber and ruckusHwInfoSerialNumber to verify exactly which AP model and unit is installed at a site, and check ruckusHwInfoHWMajorRevision/ruckusHwInfoHWMinorRevision to confirm hardware revision compatibility before pushing a firmware update. ruckusHwInfoCustomerID can be used in multi-tenant deployments to confirm which customer's equipment is being managed. The ruckusHwInfoEvents branch would be watched for any hardware-related notifications the device raises.
What Can Be Monitored

- serial number
- hardware revision (major/minor)
