Category: Wireless and Radio

Description: Manages Ruckus Wireless radio interface configuration, channel, power, and performance statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RUCKUS-RADIO-MIB?

RUCKUS-RADIO-MIB is a Ruckus Wireless proprietary MIB (registered under ruckusCommonRadioModule) that models the radio interfaces of Ruckus wireless access points. Its ruckusRadioTable, indexed by ifIndex, exposes per-radio configuration such as ruckusRadioMode (802.11 a/b/g/n mode), ruckusRadioCountry, ruckusRadioChannel, ruckusRadioTxPower, and ruckusRadioProtectionMode, while the companion ruckusRadioStatsTable adds station counters (ruckusRadioStatsNumSta, NumAuthSta), authentication and association request/response/success/failure counts, derived fail-rate and resource-utilization percentages, and RX/TX byte, frame, and error counters (including WEP, CRC, and MIC failures). This is a hardware/RF-status MIB rather than a wired-interface MIB, so it's useful for diagnosing Wi-Fi-specific problems like client association failures or radio overload that wouldn't show up in standard IF-MIB counters. It depends on IF-MIB for ifIndex and on RUCKUS-TC-MIB for the country-code and rate textual conventions, and is deployed on Ruckus APs and controllers. This makes RUCKUS-RADIO-MIB SNMP monitoring a useful way to track radio-level Wi-Fi client health independent of the wired network.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUCKUS-RADIO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ruckus Wireless access points and wireless LAN controllers

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls ruckusRadioStatsNumAssocFail against ruckusRadioStatsNumAssocReq in ruckusRadioStatsTable to compute the association failure rate for a given radio, and a spike in ruckusRadioStatsRxMICError alongside it would point to a Wi-Fi security handshake or interference problem rather than a wired-side issue.

What Can Be Monitored

  • radio channel/mode/tx-power configuration
  • station association & authentication counters
  • association/authentication success & failure rates
  • radio resource utilization percentage
  • RX/TX byte and frame counters
  • WEP/CRC/MIC error counters
