Category: IETF Standards
Description: Defines management objects associated with RFC 7777 network feature specifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RFC7777-MIB?
RFC7777-MIB is a legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks (enterprise OID 18) proprietary MIB configuring OSPF routing on Wellfleet routers — its filename coincides with an unrelated later IETF RFC number but the module itself predates that RFC and has no connection to it. Its objects (prefixed wfOspf) cover global OSPF enable/disable state, router ID, version, area border/AS border router status, TOS support, and SPF hold-down timer, a per-area table (area ID, authentication type, stub-area metric, import policy), and a link-state database table. As a configuration/protocol-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm OSPF is enabled with the correct router ID and area configuration on a legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks router. It is deployed on legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers running OSPF. Engineers searching for an "RFC7777-MIB RFC" should note this module predates and has no relation to any IETF RFC of that number — it is purely a legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks private OSPF MIB whose filename happens to coincide with a later, unrelated RFC number.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RFC7777-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers (OSPF)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks wfOspfAreaAuthType against the area's expected authentication scheme when a legacy Wellfleet router fails to form an OSPF adjacency with a neighboring area border router.
What Can Be Monitored
- OSPF global and per-area configuration

RFC description
SNMP MIB based on RFC 7777 for definition of SNMP application MIBs and their agent capabilities.
Start monitoring legacy Wellfleet/Bay Networks routers (OSPF configuration, filename coincides with unrelated later RFC) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
