Category: DSL and Broadband Access

Description: Manages ATM interface configuration, PVC parameters, and traffic statistics on Redstone routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is REDSTONE-ATM-MIB?

This is a vendor-specific MIB from Redstone Communications Inc. for managing ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) interfaces on their routers. It exposes configuration data for ATM interfaces, including PVC/VC parameters, ILMI (Integrated Local Management Interface) polling settings, and layer associations to lower interfaces. Rather than physical environmental sensors, this MIB is used chiefly to monitor interface administrative/operational state (via row status and admin state) and ILMI negotiation health, reflecting the software/protocol status of the ATM link rather than hardware. It builds on standard interface indexing conventions and ATM industry standards like ILMI/UNI, tying rsAtmIfLowerIfIndex back to the IF-MIB ifTable. It is typically deployed on Redstone ATM-capable routers/switches in carrier or enterprise WAN edge environments where ATM PVCs are provisioned. Engineers can download the REDSTONE-ATM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in REDSTONE-ATM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Redstone Communications ATM router
  • ATM WAN edge device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll rsAtmIfTable/rsAtmIfEntry indexed by rsAtmIfIndex to check rsAtmIfRowStatus and rsAtmIfIlmiAdminState for each ATM interface, confirming the interface is active and ILMI is up. Watching rsAtmIfIlmiVpi/rsAtmIfIlmiVci/rsAtmIfIlmiVcd together with rsAtmIfIlmiPollFrequency helps detect ILMI negotiation failures or misconfigured VPI/VCI pairs. A mismatched rsAtmIfUniVersion could indicate a UNI version incompatibility between the Redstone router and the ATM switch it connects to.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM interface row status
  • ILMI admin state
  • ILMI VPI/VCI/VCD values
  • ILMI poll frequency
  • UNI version
  • lower-layer interface association
