Description: Configures and monitors subscriber accounting records and collection on Redstone BRAS platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is REDSTONE-ACCOUNTING-MIB?

REDSTONE-ACCOUNTING-MIB is an enterprise MIB from Redstone Communications for configuring and monitoring subscriber accounting/billing record collection on Redstone Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) platforms. It exposes objects for selecting which accounting records to generate (rsAcctngSelectionTable), controlling accounting file generation and transfer mode/index (rsAcctngFileTable), and per-interface accounting admin status (rsAcctngInterfaceTable). Its monitoring role is software/process status oriented: confirming accounting collection is enabled per interface, that accounting files are being generated and transferred (xfer mode/index) as expected, and catching a stalled or misconfigured accounting selection that would silently stop usage-billing data from being produced. It commonly works alongside RADIUS/AAA-related MIBs and standard interface MIBs since accounting is tied to subscriber interfaces, though no specific dependency is stated in the source. It's deployed in Redstone BRAS-based broadband access networks where subscriber usage accounting records must be reliably collected and exported for billing, and a REDSTONE-ACCOUNTING-MIB download provides the object definitions operators load into their billing-system MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in REDSTONE-ACCOUNTING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Redstone Communications BRAS (Broadband Remote Access Server)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check rsAcctngInterfaceAdminStatus per rsAcctngInterfaceEntry to confirm accounting is enabled on subscriber-facing interfaces, and monitor rsAcctngFileXferMode/rsAcctngFileXferIndex in rsAcctngFileTable to verify accounting files are being rotated and transferred off the BRAS as expected. A stalled or unchanging rsAcctngFileXferIndex would indicate the accounting file transfer process has stopped, risking loss of subscriber usage records.

What Can Be Monitored

  • accounting selection type/mode
  • per-interface accounting admin status
  • accounting file transfer mode/index
  • accounting record collection state
