Category: Wireless and Radio

Description: Manages Redline Communications WiMAX base station configuration, status, and subscriber connections.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is REDLINE-BS-MIB?

REDLINE-BS-MIB is a Redline Communications enterprise MIB specific to their WiMAX Base Station (BS) product, covering configuration and status objects applicable only to the base-station role (as opposed to subscriber-station equipment). It exposes IP addressing source, DHCP relay behavior, time synchronization (SNTP/timezone/daylight-saving) settings, radio configuration such as radio type and downlink channel frequency, and configuration-save/persistence controls for both SNMP and radio-frequency (RF) settings. As a monitoring tool it supports configuration/operational-state verification of the base station's networking and RF setup, letting an operator confirm the correct IP addressing mode, DHCP relay operation, time-sync source, and radio channel/frequency plan are in effect, which is important for diagnosing subscriber-connectivity or timing-related WiMAX service issues. It is a self-contained proprietary Redline MIB with no significant dependency on external standard MIBs apparent from the available data. It is deployed on Redline Communications WiMAX base stations used by wireless ISPs and carriers to provide fixed or mobile broadband wireless access to subscriber stations. Engineers can download the REDLINE-BS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in REDLINE-BS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Redline Communications WiMAX base station

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks redlineBsIpAddressSource and redlineBsDhcpPacketsRelay to confirm whether the base station obtains its IP address via DHCP relay as expected, and reviews redlineBsTimeServerIpAddress, redlineBsTimezone, and redlineBsDayLightSaving to verify the SNTP-based time synchronization is correctly configured (important since WiMAX timing affects frame synchronization). The operator also reviews redlineBsRadioType and redlineBsDownlinkChanFreq to confirm the base station is transmitting on the intended radio channel/frequency, and checks redlineBsSnmpConfigSave/redlineBsSfConfigSave to confirm recent configuration changes have been persisted.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP address source/DHCP relay status
  • time server/SNTP synchronization settings
  • timezone and daylight-saving configuration
  • radio type and downlink channel frequency
  • configuration save/persistence status
