Category: Wireless and Radio

Description: Manages Ruckus ZoneDirector access point inventory, configuration, and operational status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RUCKUS-ZD-AP-MIB?

RUCKUS-ZD-AP-MIB is a Ruckus Wireless vendor MIB used by the ZoneDirector controller to manage inventory, configuration, and status of the individual access points it controls. It exposes per-AP identity and configuration data such as AP model, MAC address, device name, description, physical location (including GPS latitude/longitude), and IP addressing mode/version. Its monitoring value is largely inventory and configuration-status oriented: administrators use it to confirm each managed AP's identity and network settings are correct and to maintain an accurate physical/location inventory of deployed APs, complementing operational WLAN data exposed elsewhere (e.g., RUCKUS-WLAN-MIB) rather than reporting temperature/CPU-style hardware metrics directly. It is a Ruckus-proprietary module tightly coupled to the ZoneDirector controller architecture and to companion Ruckus MIBs covering WLAN and event data. It is deployed in enterprise Wi-Fi installations managed by a Ruckus ZoneDirector controller, where an administrator needs a centralized view of all controlled APs, and can download the RUCKUS-ZD-AP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUCKUS-ZD-AP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ruckus Wireless access point (managed by ZoneDirector)
  • Ruckus ZoneDirector WLAN controller

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll ruckusZDAPConfigTable / ruckusZDAPConfigEntry rows, keyed by ruckusZDAPConfigID, to verify ruckusZDAPConfigMacAddress and ruckusZDAPConfigAPModel match the expected inventory record for a site, and check ruckusZDAPConfigIpAddressSettingMode / ruckusZDAPConfigIPVersion to confirm whether an AP uses static or DHCP-assigned addressing. The ruckusZDAPConfigGpsLatitude and ruckusZDAPConfigGpsLongitude fields would be checked to confirm an AP's recorded physical location matches its actual deployment site, useful for detecting a misplaced or relocated device, while ruckusZDAPConfigDeviceName and ruckusZDAPConfigLocation support human-readable identification during troubleshooting.

What Can Be Monitored

  • AP model and MAC address
  • AP device name/description/location
  • GPS coordinates
  • IP addressing mode and version
