Description: MIB for OSPF routing configuration, interface parameters, BFD integration, and adjacency/route statistics on Nortel Accelar/ERS switches

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RC-OSPF-MIB?

RC-OSPF-MIB is a Nortel Accelar/ERS enterprise MIB managing OSPF routing protocol configuration, extending beyond the standard OSPF-MIB with per-interface parameters and BFD (Bidirectional Forwarding Detection) integration. It exposes per-interface OSPF settings such as router priority, cost metric, authentication key/type, hello and dead intervals, area ID, and row status for enabling/disabling OSPF on an interface, plus aggregate adjacency/route statistics. It supports software/protocol-state monitoring: administrators can verify OSPF timers and authentication are correctly configured per interface and watch adjacency/route statistics to detect neighbor flaps or route-table instability. It explicitly extends the IETF standard OSPF-MIB (RFC 1850/4750) with vendor-specific interface and BFD parameters. It is deployed on Nortel Accelar/Ethernet Routing Switch (ERS) platforms running OSPF in enterprise or service-provider networks. Engineers can download the RC-OSPF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RC-OSPF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nortel Accelar / Ethernet Routing Switch (ERS)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls rcIpConfOspfTable/rcIpConfOspfEntry keyed by rcIpConfOspfIfIndex to confirm rcIpConfOspfHelloInterval and rcIpConfOspfRtrDeadInterval match neighboring routers, since a mismatch here is a common cause of adjacencies failing to form. rcIpConfOspfAuthType and rcIpConfOspfAuthKey are checked when troubleshooting authentication failures, and rcStatOspf statistics are monitored to track adjacency state changes and route count fluctuations that may indicate an unstable OSPF area.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OSPF hello/dead interval per interface
  • OSPF authentication type/key
  • router priority and area ID
  • adjacency/route statistics
  • interface OSPF enable status
