rcIpConfOspfRfc1583Compatibility

Module: RC-OSPF-MIB

OID (symbolic): RC-OSPF-MIB::rcIpConfOspfRfc1583Compatibility

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.8.1.4.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: Controls the preference rules used when choosing among multiple AS-External-LSAs advertising the same destination. When this is enabled, the preference rule will be same as specified by RFC1583. When disabled, the new preference rule as described in RFC2328 will be applicable, which potentially prevents the routing loops when AS-External-LSAs for the same destination have been originated from different areas.

What is rcIpConfOspfRfc1583Compatibility?

This read-write TruthValue (default false) selects which preference rule OSPF uses when choosing among multiple AS-External-LSAs for the same destination: enabled follows the older RFC1583 rule, while disabled follows RFC2328's rule that helps avoid routing loops. An administrator normally leaves this disabled unless interoperating with legacy routers that require RFC1583 behavior.
