What Is RBN-L2VPN-MIB?
RBN-L2VPN-MIB is a Redback Networks (Ericsson SmartEdge) enterprise MIB for managing Layer 2 VPN services, including MPLS pseudowires and static cross-connects, on SmartEdge BRAS/router platforms. It defines objects for static pseudowire configuration, labels, peer addresses, circuit handles, cross-connect flags, and interface bindings, plus notifications for L2VPN state changes. Its monitoring value centers on pseudowire operational status: whether an input circuit is up, label and peer-address consistency, and cross-connect flag state, which together reveal a pseudowire that has gone down or is misconfigured. It builds on MPLS and pseudowire signaling conventions, similar in spirit to the IETF PW-MIB, while remaining a Redback/Ericsson proprietary extension. It is deployed on Ericsson SmartEdge routers, where RBN-L2VPN-MIB SNMP monitoring supports carrier Layer 2 VPN/pseudowire services.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBN-L2VPN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
An operator can poll rbnMplsL2VpnStaticTable/rbnMplsL2VpnStaticEntry for a given pseudowire to check rbnMplsL2VpnStaticInputCctUp and rbnMplsL2VpnStaticPeerAddr, confirming the pseudowire to a specific peer is active. If rbnMplsL2VpnStaticInputCctUp flips to down or rbnMplsL2VpnStaticXcFlags shows an inconsistent cross-connect state, that flags a pseudowire failure needing remediation, and rbnMplsL2VpnMIBNotifications would typically fire a corresponding trap.
