Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for context and interface binding management on Ericsson router platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-BIND-CAP?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-BIND-CAP is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module for Ericsson's proprietary Bind MIB, which governs how SNMP contexts are bound to interfaces on Ericsson's SmartEdge, SM, and SSR router platforms. Rather than exposing runtime data itself, it declares which OIDs and object groups of the underlying Bind MIB a given Ericsson SEOS software release actually implements, effectively documenting supported context/interface binding capabilities per platform and firmware version. As such it has no hardware/software status counters of its own, but it indirectly supports monitoring by telling management stations what binding-related functionality is available to poll on a given device -- important when a monitoring system needs to know if context-binding operations are supported before relying on them. It depends entirely on the corresponding ERICSSON-ROUTER-BIND-MIB and the SEOS platform/software-release framework used across Ericsson's capability statements. It is used during NMS onboarding of an Ericsson router, where the agent capabilities are read to determine which MIB features are safe to query for that specific SEOS version and product family, and engineers can open an ERICSSON-ROUTER-BIND-CAP MIB Browser session to review exactly which SUPPORTS clauses apply.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-BIND-CAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Router (MSER)
  • Ericsson SM Metro Ethernet Service Transport platform
  • Ericsson Smart Service Router (SSR)
  • Ericsson SmartEdge (MSER), SM Metro Ethernet Transport, and Smart Service Router (SSR) platforms

Monitoring Examples

This is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES module and defines no runtime data objects of its own -- it only references OIDs, object groups, and compliance statements from ERICSSON-ROUTER-BIND-MIB via SUPPORTS clauses tied to a PRODUCT-RELEASE (SEOS version and SE/SM/SSR family). There is no polling scenario to describe since it carries no monitorable counters, tables, or status values.
