What Is DXD-SMI?
DXD-SMI is a small Structure of Management Information module maintained by Ericsson (originally under the "DXD"/diaxMIB enterprise name, associated with Ericsson's Denmark-based DSLAM/access product community) that exists mainly to register the top-level "diaxMIB" OID name and a handful of subtree placeholders for related products (diaxHBS, peaIpDslam, publicEthernetManager). It is an organizational/registration module rather than a data-bearing one, defining OID branches for DSLAM and Ethernet-management product families rather than exposing operational counters or sensors directly. As such it does not itself support monitoring hardware or software status -- no uptime, temperature, or interface data -- that capability would reside in the specific product MIBs (e.g., DSLAM line or Ethernet manager MIBs) registered beneath these branches. Those product MIBs depend on this module purely to import the "diaxMIB" name and obtain consistent OID placement, so any monitoring package for this vendor line must import the DXD-SMI MIB first to resolve its diaxMIB OID root before compiling the product-specific modules registered beneath it. It is deployed only as an import dependency within Ericsson DSLAM/access equipment MIB packages, not polled directly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DXD-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ericsson DSLAM/access equipment (Denmark community, DXD/diaxMIB line, root registration only)
Monitoring Examples
DXD-SMI defines only OID subtree placeholders (om2MIBObjects, diaxHBS, peaIpDslam, publicEthernetManager) under the diaxMIB root, with no OBJECT-TYPE instances of its own, so there is nothing to poll directly here -- actual DSLAM/Ethernet-manager telemetry would be exposed by the specific product MIBs registered under these branches.
