Category: Storage

Description: Monitors StorageTek RAID 450 disk array status, enclosure components, and fault conditions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RAID450MIB?

RAID450MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from StorageTek for monitoring the RAID 450 disk array subsystem, covering the storage enclosure, its component disks, and fault conditions. It exposes hardware status objects for the array's physical components including individual disk health, enclosure status, and general fault/alarm indicators. It is explicitly designed for hardware status monitoring, letting an administrator check disk drive status, RAID group health, and enclosure-level fault conditions such as power or cooling issues within the storage array. As a self-contained storage hardware MIB it has limited dependency on broader standards MIBs. It is typically deployed in enterprise storage environments using StorageTek RAID 450 disk arrays attached to servers or SAN infrastructure. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the RAID450MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RAID450MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • StorageTek RAID 450 disk array

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll the array's disk and enclosure status tables to confirm all drives report a healthy/online state and that no fault conditions are flagged at the enclosure level. A disk entry reporting a failed or degraded state would indicate a drive needing replacement, while an enclosure fault flag could reveal a power supply or fan problem affecting the whole array. Regular polling of these objects supports proactive replacement before a RAID rebuild becomes necessary.

What Can Be Monitored

  • individual disk drive status
  • RAID group/array health
  • enclosure fault conditions
  • power/cooling status indicators
