Category: Storage

Description: Manages Promise Technology RAID storage array unified configuration, logical drive status, and controller health.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PROMISE-UNIFIED-MIB?

PROMISE-UNIFIED-MIB is the root enterprise MIB module for Promise Technology, a vendor of RAID and networked storage arrays, serving as the top-level OID registration point under which Promise's storage-management MIBs are organized. As a root/umbrella module it primarily defines the enterprise OID subtree rather than a large set of runtime data objects itself, with the actual monitorable storage data typically defined in subordinate Promise MIB modules that branch from it. In practice, Promise's storage MIB family, of which this is the root, is used to monitor RAID controller and storage-array hardware health, including logical/physical drive status, controller redundancy state, and enclosure conditions such as fan and power-supply status. Because it functions as the registration anchor, it has an inherent dependency relationship with Promise's other product-specific MIB modules rooted beneath it. It is typically encountered when managing Promise VTrak/VessRAID or similar unified storage arrays via SNMP, and administrators usually start with a PROMISE-UNIFIED-MIB download from Promise Technology before compiling the subordinate storage MIBs rooted beneath it.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PROMISE-UNIFIED-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Promise Technology RAID/storage array

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this root module, so no specific object names can be cited; in practice, monitoring of an actual Promise storage array would be done through the subordinate MIB modules rooted under this tree, which expose logical drive status, controller health, and enclosure sensor tables rather than this root module itself.
