Category: Server/Systems Management, Storage

Description: Manages PM8ECC controller ECC (Error Correcting Code) memory status, correctable/uncorrectable error counts, and diagnostics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PM8ECCMIB?

PM8ECCMIB is a vendor MIB focused specifically on ECC (Error Correcting Code) memory diagnostics for a PM8-series controller. It exposes memory error status objects, tracking correctable and uncorrectable ECC error counts along with related diagnostic state. This is squarely a hardware health monitoring MIB: it lets an administrator detect degrading memory modules before they cause a system crash, by watching for rising correctable error counts or any uncorrectable error event. It is a narrowly scoped, self-contained module without evident dependency on broader standard MIBs, since ECC counters are vendor/controller-specific. It is deployed on storage or networking controller cards that use ECC-protected memory, where PM8ECCMIB SNMP monitoring gives early detection of memory faults critical to reliability.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PM8ECCMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

No sample_objects were supplied in the source, so specific object or table names cannot be cited; in general terms, an admin would poll correctable and uncorrectable ECC error counters to catch a memory module beginning to fail. A rising trend in correctable errors without any uncorrectable errors typically signals a module nearing end-of-life that should be scheduled for replacement. Without concrete identifiers this remains a general description of the expected polling pattern.
