Description: Configures Enhanced Transmission Selection (IEEE 802.1Qaz) bandwidth allocation per traffic class.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-ETS-MIB?

RADLAN-ETS-MIB is a RADLAN/Marvell-derived switch ASIC MIB (used across numerous OEM switch vendors including Dell PowerConnect) implementing Enhanced Transmission Selection, the IEEE 802.1Qaz bandwidth-allocation mechanism for Data Center Bridging. It exposes objects for enabling the ETS feature and for mapping 802.1p priority values into priority groups, along with per-group bandwidth allocation percentages and administrative/operational status of those mappings. This is primarily a configuration and operational-state MIB: administrators use it to verify that ETS is enabled, that priority-to-group mappings have taken effect operationally (not just administratively), and to catch configuration problems via the exposed problem-reason and problem-index objects when a mapping fails to apply. It has an explicit dependency on IEEE 802.1Qaz as part of the broader Data Center Bridging standards suite alongside protocols like PFC and DCBX. It is typically deployed on data center switches supporting converged/lossless Ethernet fabrics where different traffic classes need guaranteed bandwidth shares. Engineers can download the RADLAN-ETS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-ETS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Data center Ethernet switches using RADLAN/Marvell switch silicon (e.g., Dell PowerConnect and other OEM switches)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check rlEtsFeatureStatus to confirm ETS is enabled globally, then poll rlEtsPriorityGroupMappingTable comparing rlEtsPriorityGroupMappingAdminPG against rlEtsPriorityGroupMappingOperPG for each rlEtsPriorityGroupMapping8021QPrio value to verify a priority-to-group mapping actually took effect. If rlEtsPriorityGroupMappingStatus shows a failure, the accompanying rlEtsPriorityGroupMappingProblemReason and rlEtsPriorityGroupMappingProblemIndex identify why the mapping was rejected. Monitoring rlEtsPriorityGroupBwAlloc per group would confirm bandwidth shares match the intended traffic-class allocation, revealing misconfiguration if a storage-traffic priority group is starved of bandwidth.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ETS feature enable state
  • priority-to-priority-group mapping (admin vs. operational)
  • mapping failure reason/index
  • per-priority-group bandwidth allocation
