Category: System Management, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB
Description: Configures Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) service discovery on Marvell switch platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-UPNP-MIB?
RADLAN-UPNP-MIB is a small vendor-specific private MIB from RADLAN/Marvell that configures Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) service discovery support on a switch. It exposes just two objects: rlUPnPUniqueDeviceName, which sets the device's UPnP identity string, and rlUPnPEnabling, which toggles whether the UPnP feature is active. Its monitoring relevance is limited to confirming the software feature's on/off configuration state rather than any hardware or performance telemetry. It has no apparent dependency on other MIBs, being a minimal proprietary configuration switch. It is typically deployed on Marvell/RADLAN-based managed switches in environments where UPnP-based auto-discovery of the device by other network equipment or management tools is desired, with the RADLAN-UPNP-MIB MIB providing the two objects needed to confirm that feature's on/off state.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-UPNP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Marvell (formerly RADLAN) managed Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check rlUPnPEnabling to confirm whether UPnP discovery is currently turned on for the device, and read rlUPnPUniqueDeviceName to verify the identity string that other UPnP-aware tools would see when discovering it on the network.
What Can Be Monitored
- UPnP enabled/disabled state
- UPnP unique device name
