Category: QoS and Traffic Management, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB

Description: Configures MAC address-based QoS priority assignment for ingress traffic classification.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-MAC-BASE-PRIO?

RADLAN-MAC-BASE-PRIO is a RADLAN-derived (embedded switch OS used by many white-label/OEM vendors) MIB that configures MAC address-based QoS priority for ingress traffic classification. It exposes configuration data allowing administrators to force a Layer-3 CoS/priority value for traffic matching a specific MAC address and mask, via a rule table. This is a QoS configuration MIB rather than a hardware-health one; its monitoring value lies in verifying which MAC-based priority overrides are active and their row status, rather than tracking temperature, CPU, or uptime. It is a RADLAN proprietary module, commonly embedded identically across many rebranded switch vendors' firmware, without notable dependency on IETF standard QoS MIBs. It is typically deployed on RADLAN-based managed switches (used under many OEM brand names) to enforce priority handling for specific devices identified by MAC address. Engineers can download the RADLAN-MAC-BASE-PRIO file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-MAC-BASE-PRIO. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • RADLAN-based OEM managed switches (multiple rebranded vendors)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect rlMacBasePrioForceL3CosTable, keyed by rlMacBasePrioForceL3CosAddress and rlMacBasePrioForceL3CosMask, to confirm that a specific device's MAC address is correctly forced to a target CoS value, and check rlMacBasePrioForceL3CosRowStatus to verify the rule is active rather than notInService. rlMacBasePrioForceL3CosParamsTable would be checked for the associated priority parameters applied when a match occurs. This lets an operator confirm QoS policy for a given endpoint is correctly enforced.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MAC-based CoS override rules
  • forced L3 CoS value per MAC/mask
  • MAC priority rule row status
  • MAC priority feature support flag
