All MIBs › RADLAN-File
Category: System Management, Vendor: RADLAN/Cisco SB
Description: Manages file system operations including directory listing, file deletion, and storage usage.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-File?
RADLAN-File is a Marvell/RADLAN private enterprise MIB that exposes the on-device file system of RADLAN-based managed switches, letting a management station enumerate, inspect, and manipulate files stored in switch flash. It surfaces a file table listing each file's name, permission, size, and modification date/time, an action table for operations such as delete, and a scalar reporting overall flash size. Rather than traffic or protocol counters, this is a storage/configuration-status MIB used to confirm firmware images, configuration backups, and log files are present with expected sizes and timestamps, and to check remaining flash space before an upgrade or backup. It has no apparent dependency on other standard MIBs, being a self-contained RADLAN private extension. It is typically deployed on RADLAN-based switches (used by vendors such as NETGEAR, D-Link, and Edge-Core) where firmware and configuration files are managed remotely via SNMP. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the RADLAN-File file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-File. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Marvell/RADLAN-based managed Ethernet switch
- OEM switches licensing the RADLAN software stack
Monitoring Examples
Polling rlFileTable/rlFileEntry returns rlFileName, rlFileSize, rlFileModificationDate and rlFileModificationTime for each file, letting an admin verify a newly uploaded firmware image or startup-config file is the expected size and was written at the expected time. rlFileFlashSize is checked before pushing a new image to confirm enough flash space remains, and rlFileActionTable/rlFileActionEntry triggers a delete via rlFileRowStatus. An unexpectedly small rlFileSize or a missing entry after a scheduled backup job indicates the write failed.
What Can Be Monitored
- list of files on switch flash
- file size
- file modification date/time
- file permissions
- total/available flash storage size
- file delete actions
