Category: Server Hardware Monitoring

Description: Provides NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents trap notifications for Chelsio Xframe2 10 Gigabit Ethernet NIC driver events on Linux.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PSA-LinXframe2Trap-MIB?

PSA-LinXframe2Trap-MIB is a vendor-specific NEC enterprise MIB, part of the ESMPRO ServerAgent suite, defining SNMP trap notifications for the Chelsio Xframe2 10 Gigabit Ethernet network interface card driver on NEC PC servers running Linux. As with the other PSA-*Trap-MIB modules it defines notification/event objects rather than polled counters. It is explicitly a hardware fault-monitoring MIB: its traps signal NIC driver-level fault conditions, such as a link failure or hardware error on the 10GbE adapter, letting an admin detect network interface hardware problems affecting server connectivity. It shares the common NEC ESMPRO enterprise trap variable-binding structure used across the PSA-*Trap-MIB family. It is typically deployed on NEC Express5800-series Linux servers equipped with Chelsio Xframe2 10GbE adapters, reporting into ESMPRO or an SNMP-based NMS. Engineers can download the PSA-LinXframe2Trap-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-LinXframe2Trap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition, Linux, Chelsio Xframe2 10GbE NIC (driver fault traps)

Monitoring Examples

The trap varbinds trapEventLevel and trapEventId identify the severity and type of NIC fault event, while trapUnitName/trapSerialNo/trapModelNo identify the affected server; an admin receiving such a trap would use these identifiers to determine which server's Xframe2 10GbE adapter reported a fault and prioritize a hardware check based on trapEventLevel. As with other PSA-*Trap-MIB modules, monitoring here is event/trap-driven rather than via periodic polling of a data table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • NIC driver fault event notifications
  • event severity level
  • affected server identity (name/serial/model)
