Category: Server Hardware Monitoring, Storage

Description: Provides NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents trap notifications for Windows software RAID volume fault and rebuild events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PSA-WinSvsRaidTrap-MIB?

PSA-WinSvsRaidTrap-MIB is an NEC ESMPRO ServerAgent MIB dedicated to trap notifications for Windows software RAID volumes on NEC servers. Rather than exposing a table of polled objects, it defines the varbind fields carried in RAID-related trap PDUs, including partition name/ID, event level and ID, unit name, and hardware identifiers like model number, serial number, and stepping. Its purpose is squarely hardware/software fault monitoring: it is used to detect and identify RAID volume faults, degraded states, and rebuild events as they happen via SNMP traps, rather than through periodic polling, giving near-real-time notice of storage health issues. It depends on NEC's ESMPRO ServerAgent event framework and the broader ESMPRO enterprise MIB tree for its notification structure. It is deployed on NEC Express5800-series (or similarly ESMPRO-managed) Windows servers using software RAID. Engineers can download the PSA-WinSvsRaidTrap-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-WinSvsRaidTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition, Windows, software RAID (fault/rebuild traps)

Monitoring Examples

This MIB is trap-oriented rather than table/polling-oriented: instead of a runtime data table, it defines varbinds such as trapPartitionName, trapEventLevel, and trapEventId that populate a RAID fault trap. An administrator's NMS would receive a trap containing trapUnitName and trapSuspect identifying which RAID unit and component is implicated in a fault or rebuild event, along with trapModelNo and trapSerialNo pinpointing the exact physical unit. A trap with a high trapEventLevel and a populated trapSuspect field would indicate a degraded or failed disk within a software RAID volume needing immediate attention.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID fault event level
  • faulted partition name/ID
  • affected RAID unit name
  • suspect component identifier
  • model and serial number of affected hardware
  • rebuild/fault event ID
