Category: Server Hardware Monitoring

Description: Provides NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents trap notifications for Intel igb Gigabit Ethernet NIC driver events on Linux servers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PSA-LinIntelIgbTrap-MIB?

This NEC ESMPRO ServerAgents MIB defines SNMP trap notifications for fault events from the Intel igb Gigabit Ethernet NIC driver (the successor to e1000 for newer Intel gigabit chipsets) on Linux servers managed by ESMPRO. Structurally identical in purpose to the related E1000 trap module, it builds on PSA-COM-MIB and carries diagnostic fields per trap — partition name/ID, event level and ID, unit name, model/serial number, and a suspect-component indicator — rather than polled status tables. Its monitoring role is hardware/driver fault detection: administrators rely on it to be notified in near real time when the igb driver reports a NIC hardware or link-level problem on a Linux-based NEC server, helping distinguish server-side NIC faults from broader network issues. It explicitly depends on PSA-COM-MIB for the common OID base and conventions shared across the ESMPRO ServerAgents trap module family. It is deployed on NEC Express5800 servers running Linux with Intel igb-driven NICs, under ESMPRO ServerAgent management. Engineers can download the PSA-LinIntelIgbTrap-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-LinIntelIgbTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition, Linux, Intel igb Gigabit Ethernet NIC (driver fault traps)

Monitoring Examples

A monitoring system would receive a trap with trapEventLevel and trapEventId when the igb driver detects a fault, using trapUnitName and trapSuspect to pinpoint the affected NIC or component and trapPartitionName/trapPartitionId to identify the logical server partition involved. trapModelNo and trapSerialNo allow correlation to a specific physical server for hardware dispatch. Like the other PSA trap modules, this is purely notification-based with no separate runtime table to poll.

What Can Be Monitored

  • igb NIC driver fault trap
  • event severity level
  • suspected faulty component
  • affected partition identity
  • unit model/serial identification
