What Is CISCO-POP-MGMT-MIB?
CISCO-POP-MGMT-MIB manages Point-of-Presence dial-access resources on Cisco access-concentrator platforms, providing DSX1 (T1/E1) and DSX0 (channel) facilities management along with call summaries. It exposes configuration data about how DS0 channels are configured and encapsulated, plus per-call operational data including call type, encapsulation, duration, and octet counts. It supports monitoring hardware/service status of dial-access infrastructure -- cpmCallCount and cpmTimeInUse show channel utilization, and cpmInOctets/cpmOutOctets reveal traffic volume per call, together indicating whether DS0 resources are healthy, saturated, or underused, while call-failure objects flag connection setup problems. It focuses on Cisco's own DS0/DS1 facilities model and is typically used alongside standard interface (IF-MIB) and DS1/DS0 MIBs for full circuit-level detail. It is deployed on Cisco access-server/POP concentrator platforms terminating large numbers of dial-in DS0/DS1 circuits, such as ISP dial-access points of presence. Engineers can download the CISCO-POP-MGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-POP-MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco dial-access server / Point-of-Presence (PoP) concentrator
Monitoring Examples
cpmDS0UsageTable/cpmDS0UsageEntry rows, indexed by cpmDS1SlotIndex, cpmDS1PortIndex, and cpmChannelIndex, expose cpmDS0CallType, cpmL2Encapsulation, cpmCallCount, and cpmTimeInUse, letting an administrator see how heavily a given DS0 channel has been used for dial-in calls. cpmInOctets and cpmOutOctets reveal traffic volume per channel -- a channel with high cpmCallCount but very low octet counts might indicate short-lived or failing call attempts. The ciscoPopMgmtMIBObjects group's cpmCallFailure data would be checked when subscribers report repeated connection failures at a POP.
What Can Be Monitored
- DS0 channel call count
- channel time-in-use
- inbound/outbound octet counts per call
- call encapsulation type
- call failure counts
