Description: Icotera MIB for the I6400 series residential gateway providing DSL/fiber interface, routing, and subscriber management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ICOTERA-I6400-SERIES?

ICOTERA-I6400-SERIES is Icotera's enterprise MIB for the I6400 series residential gateway, a broadband customer-premises equipment (CPE) product supporting DSL/fiber/cable access and subscriber routing. It exposes a mix of physical-layer and hardware diagnostic objects, covering CATV/RF cable-modem parameters and optical transceiver digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) data. It is strongly hardware-status oriented: transceiverDdmTemperature, transceiverDdmTxPower, transceiverDdmRxPower, and transceiverDdmVoltage/TxBiasCurrent give direct visibility into the optical transceiver's physical health, while catvModuleSignalDetected, catvModuleLowSignal, and catvModulePowerLevel report the RF/cable module's signal-quality and power state. As an Icotera-specific gateway MIB it is largely self-contained, though its transceiver DDM objects mirror the industry-standard SFF-8472 DDM data model used broadly across optical vendor MIBs. It is deployed on Icotera I6400 series residential/SMB gateways used by broadband service providers for last-mile access. Engineers can download the ICOTERA-I6400-SERIES file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ICOTERA-I6400-SERIES. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Icotera I6400 series residential/SMB broadband gateway

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll transceiverDdmRxPower and transceiverDdmTxPower together with transceiverDdmTemperature to catch a degrading optical link before it fails outright, since falling RX power combined with rising temperature often precedes a fiber transceiver fault. catvModuleSignalDetected and catvModuleLowSignal would be checked to confirm the CATV/RF module still sees a valid downstream signal, with catvModuleRflevel and catvModulePowerLevel providing the actual signal-strength readings; a low-signal flag alongside a dropping RF level points to a cable-plant or connector problem on that specific gateway.

What Can Be Monitored

  • optical transceiver temperature/voltage/bias current
  • transceiver TX/RX optical power
  • CATV/RF signal level and detection
  • low-signal alarm condition
  • module admin status

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using curMetrTotalBytes OID:

Select an Icotera I6400 series residential/SMB broadband gateway as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type curMetrTotalBytes into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The total number of bytes transferred within the stream. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
