Description: Manages Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) clock source configuration on Cisco ME1200 switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ME1200-SYNCE-MIB?
ME1200-SYNCE-MIB is a Cisco private MIB for the ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch that manages Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) clock source selection for network timing distribution. It exposes global clock-selection configuration (selection mode, active source, WTR timer, SSM holdover/freerun state, EEC option), station clock input/output settings, and a table of nominated candidate clock sources. Its primary value is monitoring timing and hardware reference health: detecting whether the switch has lost its upstream reference and fallen back to holdover or free-run mode is a direct indicator of a broken synchronization chain that can disrupt mobile backhaul timing. It implements ITU-T G.8264/G.781 SyncE and SSM standards for synchronization status messaging. It is deployed in mobile backhaul and metro Ethernet networks that must deliver frequency synchronization to cellular base stations. Engineers can download the ME1200-SYNCE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-SYNCE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
Reading me1200SynceConfigGlobalClockSelectionModeSource and SelectionMode shows which nominated clock source is currently active. me1200SynceConfigGlobalClockSelectionModeSsmHoldover and SsmFreerun reveal whether the switch has lost its reference and fallen into holdover or free-run mode, a sign the upstream timing chain has failed. me1200SynceConfigSourcesClockSourceNominationTable, indexed by SourceId, lists all candidate sources and their nomination state.
What Can Be Monitored
- active clock selection source
- clock selection mode (auto/forced)
- holdover/freerun/SSM state
- WTR timer value
- station clock input/output config
- nominated clock source list
