Description: Manages ATM connectivity test configuration and results on PairGain Technologies DSL access equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PAIRGAIN-ATMTEST-MIB?
PAIRGAIN-ATMTEST-MIB is a proprietary MIB from PairGain Technologies (a DSL/access equipment vendor later part of ADC/Tellabs) used to configure and run OAM loopback connectivity tests against ATM virtual channel connections on its DSL access equipment. It exposes a loopback test table where an operator defines the target VPI/VCI, loopback type and location, how many test cells to send, timeout/delay parameters, and whether a trap should fire on test completion. Its monitoring role is fault/diagnostic-oriented rather than continuous telemetry: it lets a technician actively verify whether a specific ATM circuit is passing traffic correctly by initiating a loopback and observing the result, used to isolate a faulty DSL/ATM path during troubleshooting. It depends on the underlying ATM OAM (Operations, Administration and Maintenance) loopback cell mechanisms defined in ATM Forum/ITU-T standards for its testing semantics. It is deployed by DSL/ATM access network operators to remotely diagnose connectivity problems on PairGain access equipment without needing a truck roll. Engineers can download the PAIRGAIN-ATMTEST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PAIRGAIN-ATMTEST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- PairGain Technologies DSL access equipment (ATM-based)
Monitoring Examples
A technician configures pgoamLoopbackTable / pgoamLoopbackEntry for a given pgoamLoopbackIfIndex, setting pgoamLoopbackVpi/pgoamLoopbackVci to identify the target virtual channel, pgoamLoopbackType and pgoamLoopbackLocation to specify the loopback point, and pgoamLoopbackCount/pgoamLoopbackTimeout to control the test. Enabling pgoamLoopbackTrapOnCompletion means the device sends a notification via pgoamLoopbackMIBTraps once the test finishes, letting the technician judge from pgoamLoopbackDelay whether the round-trip response indicates a healthy circuit or a failing DSL segment.
What Can Be Monitored
- ATM loopback test configuration (VPI/VCI, type, location)
- loopback test completion/result
- loopback round-trip delay
- test trap notifications
