What Is PAIRGAIN-COMMON-HD-MIB?
PAIRGAIN-COMMON-HD-MIB is a PairGain Technologies module (a DSL access equipment vendor later absorbed into ADC/Westell) defining common hardware-descriptor objects shared across PairGain's DSL access product MIBs. It exposes structural/registration objects related to hardware identification rather than device-specific runtime counters, underpinning how chassis and card identity are referenced consistently. Viewing PAIRGAIN-COMMON-HD-MIB in a MIB Browser mainly shows this shared hardware-descriptor OID structure rather than any pollable runtime values. Hardware and software status monitoring proper -- line status, uptime, card health -- is reported by the device-specific PairGain MIBs that build on these common descriptors, not by this module directly. It is intended to be imported by other PairGain OHDSL and access-equipment MIB modules for consistent hardware identification, and it is deployed as supporting infrastructure for PairGain DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs) and central-office DSL line cards.

Monitoring Examples
The sample objects pgainOHdsl, pgainAgent, and the registration nodes products, temporary, and registration are OID-tree structural elements rather than live counters; an admin would not poll pairgain or products directly. Instead these anchor the hardware-descriptor conventions consumed by other PairGain MIBs that report DSL line and card status. No concrete monitoring example with real counter values can be given honestly since module_desc is empty and no runtime tables are among the sample objects.
