Description: Reports console port alert and connection status on Opengear out-of-band management appliances.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OPENGEAR-CM-CONSOLE-ALERT-STATUS-MIB?

OPENGEAR-CM-CONSOLE-ALERT-STATUS-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module from Opengear covering console port and environmental alert status on Opengear out-of-band management (console server) appliances. It exposes two main categories of data: per-port signal alert status for serial console connections, and environmental sensor alert status for devices attached to or monitored by the console server. Its core purpose is fault/alert monitoring of both connected equipment signaling (e.g., a monitored device asserting an alarm signal on a console port) and environmental conditions (via named environmental sensors), making it a hardware/environment status MIB rather than a performance-counter one. It includes its own conformance/compliance group definitions, indicating it is designed to be validated against a defined set of implemented object groups. It is deployed in data centers and remote sites where Opengear console servers provide out-of-band access and aggregate alert signals and environmental sensor status from attached equipment. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the OPENGEAR-CM-CONSOLE-ALERT-STATUS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OPENGEAR-CM-CONSOLE-ALERT-STATUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Opengear console server
  • out-of-band management appliance
  • Opengear console server / out-of-band management appliances

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll ogSignalAlertStatusTable entries, checking ogSignalAlertStatusState alongside ogSignalAlertStatusPort and ogSignalAlertStatusLabel/ogSignalAlertStatusSignalName to identify which console port is reporting an active alert signal from connected equipment. Separately, the ogEnvAlertStatusTable (via ogEnvAlertStatusDevice and ogEnvAlertStatusSensor) would be checked to see if any environmental sensor tied to the console server is in an alarm state, such as a temperature or door sensor. A change in ogSignalAlertStatusState to an alarm condition on a labeled port would alert staff that an attached device is signaling trouble, such as a UPS or generator fault contact closing.

What Can Be Monitored

  • console port signal alert status
  • port label/signal name
  • environmental sensor alert status
  • monitored device/sensor identification
