Description: Monitors Novell NetWare server performance, connection counts, volume utilization, and service availability.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NetWare-Server-MIB?

NetWare-Server-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for monitoring Novell NetWare file/print servers, a legacy network operating system platform widely used for enterprise file and print services. It exposes data across server performance counters, active connection counts, NetWare volume (disk) utilization, and the availability status of NetWare services such as file, print, and directory services. This is squarely a hardware/software status MIB for the server: it lets an administrator monitor server load and performance, how many clients are connected, how full each NetWare volume is, and whether core NetWare services are running or have failed -- key indicators of overall server health. It is a self-contained proprietary Novell MIB, though servers exposing it typically also support the standard HOST-RESOURCES-MIB and generic system MIBs for OS-level statistics. It is typically deployed in enterprise environments running Novell NetWare file/print servers, primarily in legacy IT infrastructures that have not fully migrated to Windows or Linux-based file services. Engineers can download the NetWare-Server-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NetWare-Server-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Novell NetWare file/print server

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module. Based on its description, an administrator would typically poll volume-utilization objects to catch a NetWare volume nearing capacity, monitor active connection counts to gauge server load, and check service-availability status to detect a failed file or print service, though specific object names cannot be cited here.

What Can Be Monitored
