Category: QoS
Description: Manages NMS Communications interface-level QoS policy bindings for inbound and outbound traffic treatment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NMS-IF-QOS-POLICY?
NMS-IF-QOS-POLICY is a vendor MIB from NMS Communications that manages Quality of Service (QoS) policy bindings on interfaces, controlling how inbound and outbound traffic is classified, marked, and prioritized. It exposes configuration data through the nmsIfQosPolicyTable, which maps QoS policies to specific interfaces and directions. Its monitoring value lies in software/configuration status: verifying the correct QoS policy is bound to each interface so that voice, video, or critical data traffic receives the intended treatment, rather than any physical hardware metric. It presumably relies on the standard ifIndex convention from IF-MIB to identify interfaces, though this is not explicitly documented. It is deployed on NMS Communications switches or routers in networks where differentiated traffic prioritization is required, such as converged voice/data access networks. Engineers can download the NMS-IF-QOS-POLICY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NMS-IF-QOS-POLICY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- nms Co., Ltd. switch/router (per-interface QoS policy, vendor unidentified)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll the nmsIfQosPolicyTable to confirm each interface entry shows the expected QoS policy name and direction (inbound/outbound), flagging any interface where the policy binding is missing or mismatched after a configuration push, which could explain unexpected packet drops or latency for prioritized traffic. Entries are indexed per interface, consistent with a typical *Table/*Entry SNMP pattern.
What Can Be Monitored
- QoS policy assignment per interface
- policy direction (inbound/outbound)
- QoS configuration status
