Category: GPON/EPON, QoS

Description: Manages NMS Communications EPON ONU UNI interface QoS policy bindings for per-subscriber shaping.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NMS-EPON-ONU-UNI-QOS-POLICY?

NMS-EPON-ONU-UNI-QOS-POLICY is an NMS Communications enterprise MIB (under the NMS-SMI nmsEPONGroup branch) that manages QoS policy-map bindings on the user-facing UNI interfaces of EPON Optical Network Units (ONUs), enabling per-subscriber traffic shaping on an EPON access network. Its single nmsEponOnuUniQosPolicyTable associates a PON port's LLID interface (onuIfIndex) and a specific ONU UNI interface (onuUniIfIndex) with a named policy map (onuUniQosPolicy, a string identifier up to 20 characters), and provides onuUniQosPolicyCreate and onuUniQosPolicyDel flags to apply or remove that policy-map binding. Because it is a narrowly scoped configuration MIB rather than a statistics MIB, it depends on the underlying EPON OLT/ONU management framework to have already defined the referenced QoS policy maps, and it exposes only the binding of a policy to a UNI port rather than traffic counters. It is deployed on EPON Optical Line Terminals managing NMS Communications ONUs for NMS-EPON-ONU-UNI-QOS-POLICY MIB Browser based per-subscriber QoS policy administration.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NMS-EPON-ONU-UNI-QOS-POLICY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • NMS Communications EPON ONU/OLT platforms

Monitoring Examples

An operator walks nmsEponOnuUniQosPolicyTable to confirm which onuUniQosPolicy is currently bound to a subscriber's onuUniIfIndex, and checks onuUniQosPolicyCreate/onuUniQosPolicyDel state after a provisioning change; a UNI port missing an expected policy-map binding would indicate a failed or incomplete QoS provisioning operation for that subscriber.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ONU UNI-to-policy-map binding table
  • LLID/PON interface index
  • policy-map creation flag
  • policy-map deletion flag
