Category: Optical Networking
Description: Manages equipment and link redundancy protection switching states and configurations on NBS optical platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NBS-REDUNDANCY-MIB?
NBS-REDUNDANCY-MIB is an NBS proprietary MIB configuring redundant-interface (failover) pairs on NBS-based switches. Its configuration table, keyed by index, records the partner interface index (admin/oper), redundancy status (admin/oper), preferred-unit flag, standby-transmit admin setting and toggle action, interface type, and group number, while a group table records group number, operational status, mode (admin/oper), and Y-cable presence (admin/oper). As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm which interface is the preferred/active member of a redundant pair and whether Y-cable protection is present. It is deployed on NBS-based managed switches with redundant-interface support. Engineers can download the NBS-REDUNDANCY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NBS-REDUNDANCY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- NBS-based managed switches (redundant interfaces)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks nbsRedundCfgStatusOper and nbsRedundGroupCfgYcableOper to confirm a redundant interface pair is correctly failed over and Y-cable protected on an NBS-based switch.
What Can Be Monitored
- redundant interface pair status and Y-cable presence
