Description: Manages NBS optical jumper/patch connection configuration and continuity state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NBS-JUMPER-MIB?
NBS-JUMPER-MIB is an NBS Networks optical/transport equipment MIB for reporting the configuration of physical dipswitches and jumpers on a hardware module. It exposes a jumper table listing each jumper's position, its interpreted meaning, the silk-screen label printed on the board next to it, and a human-readable description, indexed per interface. Its monitoring role is squarely hardware configuration verification: administrators check physical jumper/dipswitch settings against expected values to confirm a card is configured correctly for its intended mode, catching misconfigurations that could explain unexpected optical or protocol behavior. It is a self-contained hardware-inventory style MIB but is typically used alongside other NBS optical MIBs (such as NBS-OSA-MIB and NBS-TRAPCONTROL-MIB) covering the same chassis family. It is deployed on NBS optical networking chassis where physical jumpers/dipswitches control card-level hardware modes, and NBS-JUMPER-MIB SNMP monitoring lets administrators confirm those settings match the documented configuration remotely.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NBS-JUMPER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- NBS Networks optical transport chassis/card
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls nbsJumperTable/nbsJumperEntry for a card's nbsJumperIfIndex, reading nbsJumperPosition alongside nbsJumperInterpret and nbsJumperSilkScreen to confirm a physical dipswitch is set to the expected mode described in nbsJumperDescription. Discovering a jumper position that doesn't match the documented interpretation for that silk-screen label would explain why the card is behaving in an unexpected operating mode.
What Can Be Monitored
- jumper/dipswitch physical position
- interpreted jumper setting meaning
- silk-screen label reference
- jumper description text
- per-interface jumper count
