Description: Defines managed objects for MPLS label-controlled Frame Relay interfaces.
IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring MPLS-LC-FR-STD-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.
What Is MPLS-LC-FR-STD-MIB?
This is a standards-based IETF MIB (RFC 4368, building on RFC 3034) that defines managed objects for MPLS Label-Controlled Frame Relay interfaces, covering the mapping of Frame Relay DLCI ranges to MPLS label-switched paths. It exposes interface configuration objects specifying traffic and control DLCI ranges (minimum/maximum) and row status for provisioning these label-controlled Frame Relay interfaces. Its monitoring value is centered on configuration/provisioning correctness—confirming DLCI range assignments are properly configured and active (via row status)—rather than hardware health, since this is a control-plane/protocol configuration MIB; it also defines notifications for interface-related events. It is explicitly built on top of MPLS architecture standards and Frame Relay interface conventions defined elsewhere in the IETF MPLS MIB family. It would be deployed on carrier-grade routers that interconnect Frame Relay and MPLS networks, a technology combination common in legacy service provider WAN environments. Engineers can download the MPLS-LC-FR-STD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MPLS-LC-FR-STD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
- carrier router interconnecting Frame Relay and MPLS networks
Monitoring Examples
An operator would check mplsLcFrStdInterfaceConfTable, keyed by an interface index, to confirm mplsLcFrStdTrafficMinDlci/mplsLcFrStdTrafficMaxDlci and mplsLcFrStdCtrlMinDlci/mplsLcFrStdCtrlMaxDlci match the intended DLCI range provisioned for MPLS label-control on that interface. The mplsLcFrStdInterfaceConfRowStatus object confirms whether the configuration entry is active; a row stuck in notReady or notInService would indicate a failed provisioning attempt. mplsLcFrStdNotifications would alert an operator to relevant state changes on these label-controlled Frame Relay interfaces.
What Can Be Monitored
- traffic DLCI min/max range
- control DLCI min/max range
- interface row/provisioning status
