Description: Monitors fiber optic transceiver signal levels, Tx/Rx power, and DOM thresholds on Allied Telesis SFP/SFP+ ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AT-FIBER-MONITORING-MIB?

AT-FIBER-MONITORING-MIB is an Allied Telesis enterprise MIB that provides Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) data for fiber optic SFP/SFP+ transceivers installed in Allied Telesis switches. It exposes per-transceiver optical signal metrics and threshold configuration -- transmit and receive power levels and associated alarm/warning thresholds -- along with notifications for out-of-range conditions. It is used explicitly to monitor the hardware health of fiber-optic transceivers, tracking Tx/Rx optical power levels against vendor-defined thresholds to provide early warning of a degrading or failing fiber link before it causes an outage. As a transceiver-monitoring MIB it complements the standard IF-MIB/ENTITY-MIB for interface and physical-entity inventory on the same switch. It is typically deployed on Allied Telesis managed switches with SFP/SFP+ fiber uplinks in enterprise and campus network environments, making AT-FIBER-MONITORING-MIB SNMP monitoring a standard safeguard against silent fiber-link degradation.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-FIBER-MONITORING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Allied Telesis managed switches with SFP/SFP+ fiber ports

Monitoring Examples

No object or table names were included in the sample for this module, so specific identifiers can't be cited; based on the module description, an operator would typically poll per-port Tx/Rx optical power objects and compare them against configured DOM thresholds to detect a degrading fiber link, such as falling Rx power indicating a dirty connector or failing transceiver, before it causes a link outage.
